Well we have changed our minds on buying a newer Prius. We have decided to purchase a newer Chevrolet Volt.
We like the idea of the Plug-In car, we have become quite accustomed to plugging in when we get home from our errands.
We are apprehensive about the Plug-In Prius because of the fact that it will only go around 11 miles in EV Mode, and even then the EV mode is interrupted when the engine is not up to operating temperature, also EV mode is terminated at anytime that the throttle is pressed down more than a set amount.
So, we are looking for a 2012 or newer Chevrolet Volt. It must be Crystal Red with the Premium Package to include, Dark leather interior, Gray center console, No funny White or Green stripes on the seats or dash.
I want to polished Aluminum Wheels, It must also have Factory Navigation, Bluetooth and the Premium Bose Sound System.
Some of these accessories are Standard Equipment in the Premium Vehicle Package.
We made several trips to the Chevrolet Dealerships in a 100 mile radius and checked out several Chevrolet Volts on line.
We have decided on the 2012 Chevrolet Volt, at McCurley Integrity Dealerships in Pasco, Washington.
McCurley has the 2012 Volt advertized at $26980, with 2833 miles.
All of the arraignments are made they required a $500 deposit, to guarantee that the car would not be sold to another buyer before we were able to get there on Monday afternoon. We will drive the 8 hours to the dealership on Monday and see if we can make a deal. The sales staff promised us they would have the Volt at the dealership, all charged up and ready to go.
We left Twin Falls around 7 AM, good weather and clear roads all of the way to Pasco, Wa.
We called the dealership 40 minutes before we got there to have them prepared to greet us.
At around 1:30 PM we pulled on the lot, the Volt was right out in front.
We took it for a drive, the salesman, Jordan showed us the features of the Volt.
Jordan knew the car well, I ask Jordan several times, if the car had Navigation. He replied, "Yes, through OnStar".
I sure wish that I had not been so tired from driving all of that way, or maybe, I would have caught what he was really saying. "The car does not have Navigation, it has Navigation through OnStar."
Oh, and the Volt had not been recharged, there was only 11 miles range when we got in the car for the test drive! So much for their integrity!
The Sales Manager evaluated my Trade-In 2006 Prius and offered us $4000 for it.
I was insulted!
I said, Well, we will buy your Volt, at your on Sale Price and drive both cars back to Twin Falls. They were fine with that.
We filled out the paper work. Oh, and now there is another surprise, the interest rate we discussed over the phone of 1.9% was not available, and they knew nothing about it! I gave the the Finance guy the name of the person who I talked to on the phone. he said, "I don't know any Jamie".
Okay, lets just buy the damn car and get out of here!
We financed the car through their HAPO CU at 2.45%
Jordan programmed our phone to the Bluetooth, helped us purchase minutes for the Hands-Free Calling and helped us set-up our OnStar account. Thank you very much Jordan!
The Volt was on the bottom 1/4 of the tank of fuel, Jordan offered to
fill it for me because we are now going to be driving both cars home. He
apologized for not being able to get us more for our trade-in.
We were out the door around 5 PM.
We spent the night in Kennewick, at Baymont Inn. It was a very nice Clean and Quiet.
I should have ask the Manager if they had an outside outlet to recharge, but we were just too tired to think of it.
This is a picture through the room window of our Red babies.
This "Navigation through OnStar" thing is still not settling well with me, I should have ask to show me the navigation screens!
Let's just get some sleep........at 7:30 PM!
